Join Button Farm as we celebrate our annual Maryland Emancipation Day Event in commemoration of the day in 1864 when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War. The program will feature speakers, self-guided tours of the farm’s museum garden and animal pens. Snacks and cider provided!

Join us at Button Farm for the Montgomery County Farm Tour as the county celebrates its agricultural heritage by promoting local farms and inviting visitors to explore agricultural enterprises during the tour.
Visitors of any age are welcomed to explore the 93,000-acre Agriculture Reserve through out Montgomery County, see the farm experience first-hand and indulge in a variety of local food, drink and fun! Button Farm is one of the 19 farms, orchards and vineyards participating this year and will host special events on Saturday July 27, 2024 (TBD)
Button Farm, set on 40-pristine acres inside Seneca Creek State Park, is Maryland's only hands-on history center depicting 19th century slave plantation life and the inspirational story of the Underground Railroad.
Visitors will experience:
- Self-guided tours of our living history center including Museum Garden, Animal Pens and Exhibits.
- Miles of hiking and mountain bike trails just off of our front drive.
- Picnic tables, benches and shaded areas (bring your own food and non-alcoholic drink)
- Beautiful landscapes and vista for photography, painting and bird-watching, so bring your gear. We hope to see you on the farm!
