Maryland Emancipation Day 2025

Join Button Farm as we celebrate our annual Maryland Emancipation Day Event in commemoration of the day in 1864 when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War. The program will feature speakers, self-guided tours of the farm’s museum garden and animal pens. Snacks and cider provided!

Join CTTT-Montgomery and the Menare Foundation, Inc. at Button Farm for an afternoon of food, fun and networking as we explore the beautiful and scenic grounds (the Commons, Museum Garden, Animal Pens, Historic Out-Buildings and Slave Cemetery) while connecting with local CTTT members, family, and friends.
Bring your favorite dish to share under the pavilion and pack your outdoor blanket and/or chair to enjoy, in comfort, the relaxing and picturesque surroundings of Button Farm. Invite your family and friends to join in the festive celebration too! Soft drinks and paper goods will be provided.
